One of the main problems already highlighted with the iPod Video is its screen size. The iPod Video has a screen size of 2.5 inches compared with the screen size of 4.3 inches offered from the Archos 604.
I know it doesn’t seem much - does an extra two inches make that much difference?
If you want to use your portable MP4 player to watch feature length movies, then an extra two inches will give you around THREE times as much screen surface area.
Additional features include the ability to record directly from your TV.

As discussed back in June in MP3 News Microsoft’s planned iPod killer - The Zune - is due for release in the States on November 14. Just in time for the holiday season!
However, as mentioned in MP4 Soup on October 25, iPod aren’t scared about loosing their market share. “It takes forever,” Apple Co-Founder Steve Jobs told Newsweek in an interview when discussing the introduction of a newbrand into a market.
So should Apple be scared? Possibly. If anything, it might be positive for consumers. Greater competition should at least motivate Apple to increase their iPod functions and reduce their prices. That’s the theory anyway.

A brief history of MP4 technology according to Wikipedia…
“MPEG-4 Part 14, formally, ISO/IEC 14496-14:2003, is a multimedia container format standard specified as a part of MPEG-4. It is most-commonly used to store digital audio and digital video streams, especially those defined by MPEG, but also can be used to store other data such as subtitles and still images.”
“Like most modern container formats, MPEG-4 Part 14 allows streaming over the Internet. The official filename extension for MPEG-4 Part 14 files is .mp4, thus the container format is often referred to simply as MP4. Devices that play .mp4 files are referred to as MP4 players.”

According to Apple, this is the definition of MP4…
(MP4 is short for MPEG-4)
"MPEG-4 is the global multimedia standard, delivering professional-quality audio and video streams over a wide range of bandwidths, from cell phone to broadband and beyond."
"MPEG-4 is designed to deliver DVD-quality video (MPEG-2) at lower data rates and smaller file sizes. And the same folks who created the popular .mp3 file format — a.k.a. MPEG-1 layer III — developed the new Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) codec, providing much more efficient compression than MP3 with a quality rivaling that of uncompressed CD audio."
"Like MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 previously did for CD-ROMs and DVDs, MPEG-4 promises to create interoperability for video delivered over the Internet and other distribution channels. MPEG-4 will play back on many different devices — from satellite television to wireless devices."
"MPEG-4 provides an open playing field. As an open industry standard, anyone can create an MPEG-4 player or encoder that will work with other manufacturers devices."
So remember than an iPod Video in an MP4 Player. And you can get many different brands of MP4 Players!

The MP4 Player Brand has been recently launched and Trade Marked in the USA.
The MP4 players launched by MP4Player.us claims is that it has designed a “10 in 1″ MP4 Player, offering a lot more value than the Video iPod.
So what main additional features does it contain?
* Build in speakers
* A Voice recorder
* An FM Radio
* An FM Transmitter to play music remotely through you car stereo system.
There are a few additional features that may be of interest to some. It’ll have to be something really special to choose this instead of a Video iPod though.
